Thread necro alert

Good day also thinking of getting me one of them units for my BMW X3. Looking at the following unit:

Any pros and cons?

I don't think it has Android auto though?
Typically android auto would be specifically mentioned as a feature if it were available..

I am currently looking into getting one myself and from research, general consensus seems to be that you want at least 8 core CPU with 4GB RAM.. of all options I have come across, the joying appears to tick all the right boxes and so far looks to be the best Chinese branded option, from what I could find..

I've been thinking about an android head unit for a few years now, one that can do split screen, so that I can have torque and music running at the same time (Also dual Bluetooth, so that I can have my phone and obd2 adapter linked up) . The px6 head units seem to be popular, just make sure you get one with enough ram and rom. I was also toying with the idea of dissembling a tablet and sticking it into a cheap motorized indash. Bought the tablet a few years ago and the indash, just didn't complete the project (like most projects in my life)
Now days there are much simpler ways to get this done

I had a look, they don't have a unit for my BMW X3 2012. They did recommend the following:

,but I don't know if it will work with my steering wheel panel etc?

Do you have any online stores were you could buy one?
In regards with the tablet, looks like a hellavu lot of work and I will probably newer finish it. Do you have a good DIY website or video?

This looks like an awesome android head unit, but you have to buy 2 if you want to order from them :(

They claim steering wheel control support, though it would depend on whether your car provides this over CANBUS, which would then require you to buy an adaptor to get your steering wheel control to work..

How will I know if my car provides over CANBUS?

What about my tyre pressure sensors? will they work?

WRT tablet installs, there are tons of diy videos on Youtube
The good thing about a tablet install, is the ability to remove the device from the car

Check Banggood for universal android head units, but you would need something more specific to your X3

It should be able to i know they have a model for cic and then a model for nbt, my friend had both models with him nbt is what my car is f30 3series, connectors and stuff is different on them, if u pull out your head unit it says on the one plug and on the head unit what model it is, they also make another one where u dont have the little mmi box and instead u everything is build into an idrive look a like screen and u replace your complete screen with the new one,

I got mine from my friend as a tes unit/ birthday present as he plans on bringing it in himself, which guys said they dont ship to sa ? As they shipped it to him with dhl
