Before this stupid update, I was averaging 300+ fps for tf2, but after it I am averaging 60fps and with a lot of noticeable lag. Does anyone have any ideas what may be the cause, because I can't play TF2 with this lag :(

Donno if this is of importance, but the update bugged out and force me to re-download 2 gigs of TF2, twice.

load new amd 11.4 wqhl driver and corssfire app profiles

Just did, and donno wat you mean about crossfire app profiles, but I did activate crossfire. Still hasn't helped =/ Its weird, cuz i can run metro full graphics no problem.

Has vertical sync been turned on again after the update?

If not, try bringing down the console and typing 'fps_max', maybe that is set to 60 which you could set back to 120 or higher.

Can't think of anything else sadly :/

Ty will try it out now. Btw I have been monitoring my graphics card usage, and both of them chill at only 30%. Another thing that doesn't make sense, is that even though my fps is sitting at +- 90, I see noticeable lag (Which is shouldn't cause only 30- should you see lag)

I'll report back tomorrow, if the profile thing works or not.

Check the basics!

Maybe some of the files got corrupted or heavily fragmented during the multiple updates if the driver updates don't work maybe try a disc clean-up or defrag.

Is it just TF2 that u noticed the lag?
Is it just fps lag or is their a increase in ping/latency aswell?
Make sure your game settings did not change or your gfx card and windows settings.

if all else fails re-install do a steam backup if you don't want to re-download the updates.

I checked Metro 2033, but its hard to tell if you lagging or if its just the special effects. I did check Crysis 2 and didn't notice any lag... I think. Sigh this is making me so paranoid!!! With specs like this I shouldn't be feeling any lag.

Do you have ADSL? If so, which ISP?
Even at 60fps, you shouldn't see any lag.

Ye I do, its def not internet lag as I've been playing TF2 with no problems for a while until now. Also, after getting the crossfire profile my fps has been registering below 30 fps. :(

Just checking, will the fact that Counter Strike Source is in mid update have any effect? Cuz they do share some of the same code.

I know some of the ISPs have been trouble some the past couple of days. Some of my clan mates have switched because of the lag...

The only way to know is to finish the download. ;)

Thanks Guys!!! It seems like it could have been my ISP (like wtf?). I changed, to my other account and I started to get a continual 100+ fps. But I still don't get how your internet connection can affect your fps.

Anywaz, all this talk about lag has gotten me very worried that my computer isn't performing as it should. Do you guys know a way that I could make sure my computer is performing correctly? Like maybe with benchmarks or something.

Yeah, maybe run a couple of benchies and compare with results you find on the net. What I would do, is look for a 6950 crossfire review, check the system specs they used and do the same benchies. Depending on spec, you will have some differences in results though.
