Inspect your ATM before drawing money

It's been almost two year now with the cardless cash invention from fnb. Its was a hack of evolutionary invention... With the addition of Samsung Pay and it's own FNB App Payment, you rarely ever to carry a card!!!! I don't even remember the last I used a card to withdraw money!!!

All Banks should get in on the band wagon or create their own innovation seeing that most ATM are never guarded and are costing them dearly with refunds!!!

FNB open up the field, others should have improved or perfected the idea by now!!!

Most other banks have had it for a while already. Just a pity FNB lost their ability to balance books and hand desperate broke people money only for them to take it back ;)

Well they were a team of 5 people. Saw the cctv footage. Not sure but I was left with no card and I was at a FNB atm in Empangeni and money withdrawn with 2 transactions R5000 each from ATM in Durban.

I did not blame FNB and I knew what I was doing but not familiar with the FNB atm tbh because I never really used it. I was with capitec before and when you withdraw from an FNB atm with a Capitec card most of these extra options were not shown obviously. I was distracted by someone calling and pulling my arm when I realized something is wrong it was too late. They waited to strike right after I entered my pin.

I did get my money back from FNB though so I am thankful for that. My dad is a Lieutenant colonel at the police station so he helped me a lot to get the CCTV footage get that case opened and all that forwarded to FNB.

Dude you are knocking CARDLESS cash withdrawal as an avenue of fraud, while you openly stated you had a card in play and that was stolen.

So how the hell could Cardless be the problem?

Your situation would have at ANY bank that uses cards, which is exactly why we were punting Cardless withdrawal in the first place.

MyBB's stock photo gives the impression that network connection has been hijacked by criminals, of course one has to read the article before forming an opinion on the content.

Centurion Rekord said:
The card skimmer will withdraw an amount shortly before midnight and then wait a few minutes. A second withdrawal is then made on the renewed daily limit,” the report said.
The card skimmer device is withdrawing cash or the criminals that are using a skimming device to clone magstripes are withdrawing cash?

Card cloning criminal would be less ambiguous.

I will have to buy a Sherlock Holmes cap and an oversized magnifying glass for my next "OTM Inspekteur" adventure.

Aren't talking about e-Wallet...?

Aren't talking about e-Wallet...?
Cardless withdrawal from a mobile app and ewallet service such as CashSend from Absa.
Ability to disable or temporary lock cards in the App and also activate international travel for credit and debit cards after entering dates of travel.

Ok, but how about the atm itself having a built in camera, I’ve seen this at almost every single FNB atm I’ve been too, asked them on Twitter, but nooooo response

I’ve seen it in a few Absa and Nedbank ones as well

More relevant for people who use cash on daily basis or don't live near a PnP for example to draw, etc

I rarely, if ever draw cash from an ATM for obvious reasons...security, crime, charges.
PnP if I need cash else plastic !

eWallet for merchants.. this is what FNB is missing..

Also we need a national eWallet solution. not necessarily allowing multiple bank eWallet per cell but if people want to pay me.. whether they on Stb, Fnb, Cpt, or Ned should not make a difference..

I use eWallets a lot for informal P2P payments.

Do they still have those pepper sprays at Absa ATMs? Because your inspection could be mistaken for trying to tamper with the machine and you end with a face full of pepper spray for your carefulness.

Que? I've used it in 2011 already but prefer drawing cash at tills which Capitec started in 2005.
