Hi all
I got a new decoder signal view one, and new lnb .
But i still get 0% signal , i want to know what is the proper way of installing a dish and decoder, or can it be that the gable is the problem>

I know you get cheapish "detectors" to check the signal and to align the dish. What do you call that? I always wanted one to do alignments and checks myself but never knew what to search for.

The LNB has to be set to the right angle. I take it that the dish was installed before and you just replaced the LNB, decoder? If so, you might not realise it but the LNB has to be at the same angle the old one was at. If it still is not picking up the signal you can check cables. If it's not working after that, maybe the alignment has been moved. Kids and balls give me a lot of work;). Installers seem to not know what a 13 spanner is for.

You get different types, the cheap ones are crap though. The one's with the meter are good for one or two installs and then start to give problems, some just snap off by the connectors. The one's that use earphones are a little stronger but accuracy is poor. Not that the ones with the meter are much better. Still, if it's only for DIY, go to a Ellies or Elsat and ask for satfinders.

If you look at the dish as if it is a clock face, the LNB should be pointing to 4 o'clock. I'd replace all the cables as well.

Thanks Ronjay do you know any thing about the signal that needs to be send? I did a search on it but dont find any info about it

If it is a new decoder you need to have multichoice send the decoder the signal to allow you access to the bouquet. You need to give them your new decoder number and smartcard number.
