I'm only posting this in the hopes that one of the undercover Telkom employees will notice and take action.

I recently move house (say no more, I know), one street up from where I lived, same area. Phoned Telkom about a month early to arrange for my line to be moved, and the current one to be disconnected at the end of that month. They said I can't, I have to cancel it and reapply.

About two weeks into the new month, I got a call from a Telkom tech to ask if he can disconnect my line. Sure, go ahaead. So while I have him on the line, I say, hey, you don't by any chance have another job for me there? No, why? Because I have an ADSL installation waiting at the new place. So he asks where the new place is. I tell him. So he says, why didn't you just have it moved? So I say, they told me I can't. So he says, that's rubbish, they definitely can.

So anyway, I cancelled the old line with effect end of that month, and applied for a line at the new place at the same time. So I ask when they can connect me. We don't know, they have to do conformance test first, and there aren't any ports available.

WHAT???

What about the one I just freed up???

So the long and short of it, more than two months later I still don't even have an installation date. My ticket has been escalated so many times it must be in orbit now.

Sigh....

Take out an ad in Beeld. It's the only way to get their attention these days.

OK this is just becoming rediculous. More than two months down and still no Telkom employee can give me an install date, or at lest half a passable reason for why they can not. Every time I phone, they haven't received a response from their "installations" department. Every time it gets escalated, and someone will attend to it urgently, and simply nothing happens.

So here's a challange, in case any undercover Telkom employees are reading. Go look up a reference number starting with 1088 and ending in /43 (I can't remember the rest), in Delta Park (Linden area according to your zoning). Push my application through by the end of this week, and a bottle of fine red wine is yours :-)

Oh, and don't get me started on I-CSS....

I am moving from Gardens in CPT to Sea Point in CPT. been a month already and they still have some random address for the new installation and I have changed it 3 times already. They say a technician will call in 48 hours. Who know's if that will happen.

Good luck!
