From the LNB you've got two ports that are for the Exploras and four that are for normal decoders, take a cable from there and run it to the HD decoder and plug it into the LNB port on the decoder, take a cable from the rf-out of the explora2 to the rf-in on the HD decoder, take a cable from the rf out of the HD decoder and plug it into the TV (this is so you can watch the explora content on the TV) otherwise you'd use HDMI just for the connected decoder.
Set the Explora settings to RF-out and the HD to rf-in, you'll have to also fiddle with remote settings, think you set remote 2 to relay-respond.
Contact DSTV and tell them you'd like to activate Xtraview, supply the details they ask and bam

I'm also interested in doing this, but with an Explora and an HD PVR 2P.

Thanks for the detailed description.

QUESTION: I assume that the only difference with the HD PVR installation is that I must run 2 cables from the Smart LNB to the HD PVR?

Actually, if you have a Smart LNB you do not need a heartbeat cable.

Use the Explora 2 as your main decoder. Buy a diplexer and split the cable going to the HD decoder. Connect one cable (coming from the diplexer) to the LNB port of the HD decoder and the other cable (coming from the diplexer) to the RF-out or RF-In port of the decoder. Your heartbeat will now work.

If you have the old Explora you need a diplexer at both decoders connected in exactly the same way. You will no longer need the multi switch.
