Hi All

I recently purchased a TP-Link MR3420 router but cannot install it. As per the installation guide I need to connect the router to my pc and type http://192.168.1.1 in my browser to access the setup page of the router. When I enter the IP address nothing happens, my browser only tells me that I am not connected to the internet which I don’t think is correct.

I am completely stumped at this stage can anyone assist in getting past this point and install the router?

I use Windows 7 with a Vodacom Huawei E220 Modem.

Thanks in advance.

It is normally preinstalled from the factory all you got to add is your account details and the right IP Address on the pc.

Try a static IP address 192.168.1.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Could be that DHCP is not installed

Also try 10.0.0.2 or 192.168.0.1 cause the guide may be wrong

Try going start > run > type ping 192.168.1.1 to see if it is connected properly

Also connect it and wait maybe 5 min. I think win7 is faulty or the router detection (in terms of IP allocation etc) is a tad slow.

Also I own one so well worth the minor slowness etc in terms of cost saving. And if you got real problems call Uniterm Direct, those guys are awesome. Even drive out to set it up some times.

whats the benefit from buying the 300 mb instead of the 150 mb? surely wireless neworks is not nearly 150 mbps yet?

does the signal go further?

Silly question but you've got the ethernet cable plugged in when you try the ip address right?

According to google 150 mb does 150 feet(45.72 meters) and 300 mb does 300 feet (91.44 meters). This is the maximum it can reach, but since walls, trees, radio, wireless signals etc. can affect the maximum range of your wireless you will have varied results.

So to answer the question in one word, Yes.

Also check your proxy settings. Nothing should be picked.

Also make sure it's plugged into one of the yellow ports and NOT the blue one (sounds stupid but an easy mistake to make ... I should know :))

Oops. Found the yellow port. Just peel off the sticker. I win the retard of the day prize. Router is working 100%. Thanks for all the help.
