in vistabootpro i used the legacy boot editor just to check that its pointing to the right place from the top menu.

- vista cd
- XP cd
- http://www.vistabootpro.org/
obviously an empty hdd or partition too
- boot with xp cd and install
- boot with vista cd and choose repair boot
- install and run vistabootpro (from vista)
- on first screen use add os at bottom, add legacy windows and select its drive/partition.
- from the xp cd's i386 copy these 2 files to the root of the xp drive/partition NTDETECT and NTLDR.
