Hi everyone

Just a question. When you claim with an insurance company, are they allowed to use after market parts even for new cars (2016 model)?
Quick story. My mom knocked a dog. Bumper gone and radiator was leaking. She reported and car was taken for assessment etc. Now they saying they getting 3 quotes before getting the parts and repairing vehicle. I thought they go to the dealership for parts... Is this the norm?
Thanks in advance

They can use replacement parts for certain items which does not void the warrantee. Make sure it's done through an approved repairer ;)

If not you can/will void your warrantee on the vehicle.

AHA! Thanks buddy

Getting how ever many quotes from different places doesn't mean it's after market ...

motorplan/warranty will be void if the car is not taken to an authorized repair center, as simple as that.

Even then you can end up aftermarket as the authorised repair center can use what ever parts the orginazition deems fit or meets the quality standards set out. its in the small print. but the authorised dealer cant make their own decision.

Had Bonnet, headlight, and front fender replaced by authorised center. I wasn't happy with repairs so took it for 2nd opinion and found that some parts (panels) did not have original markings. Followed up and managed to trace the purchases to the dealership selling the spares correctly but the manufacturer themselves supplying parts from various "approved alternate manufacturers, if necessary to meet demand"

This is scary... I am worried about the warranty... But Nissan has listed this panel beater as an Authorised Nissan repair centre
