Hi, i am looking to get decent insurance quotes for my vehicle.
All the questions on the phone and then you get told a horrible number.
I was told that it helps to combine building and content insurance also to get a better rate? true?
2 Insurance i called asked me if i have tracker or a gear lock and they asked me to take on a service of my choice which can help lower the insurance.
Does one need to do this combine types like house building/content/car?
What about the tracker and gear lock thing, is this needed ?

To combine house hold contents and motor you do find it would be cheaper!

I use the tracker not for getting my car back, but to have the panic button to get help.

One some vehicle certain companies do require such things, according to their own view on the risk profile.

Your own age and area you stay in also play a roll in the price, besides the vehicle itself obviously, a GTI will have a higher premium compared to a otherwise similar golf with a weaker engine.

And I have household content and vehicle insurance together. It's not overall cheaper but the vehicle portion did come down a bit when that was added. Also you can then specify some items, like a cellphone. My colleagues Note 6 was specified, when someone open a door that hit his and and sent the phone flying and broke the screen, it was repaired by insurer. Also coming in handy with my CAT S60 on which I broke the screen.

Tracking devices are wireless, it does not touch your wiring of your car.

Battery last around 3 years.

But obviously little point (cost purposes wise at least) if the tracker doesn't decrease the insurance by more than the pm cost of having the tracker.
