Hi there,

I have a Q for you guys. I want to get a 384 ADSL with a Local Only account and a International account. First prob I had was to run both accounts on the one ADSL router.

Got the answer really easy coz you can install IPCop or RouteSentry.

But I would also like to find out. There’s 2 PC’s at home on small network (with my xbox 360)

If I set this up on my pc what will happen to the other pc? Do I have to set this up on it as well? Should I install that DDProxy on my machine to share it? Will RouteSentry and DDProxy work together?

Or should I install IPCop and DDProxy on my machine???

As headstrong suggests, seriously consider getting a Linksys WRT54GL router to do the splitting. I haven't looked back since implementing this. No fiddling with software on different PCs, just plug into the router and traffic is split.

I have the following setup (which works very well): 2 PC's, one connected via fixed cable to router other PC connects to router using wireless. Installed RouteSentry on both PCs (on the PC accessing via wireless we installed RASPPPoE on the Wireless card instead of the LAN card), then as long as your local and international accounts allow at least 2 simultaneous connections, you're sorted :) If you are using an uncapped account, however, this will not work. Most other accounts allow simultaneous connections though; most SAIX accounts allow 4 concurent connections.

Oh ja, router is in bridge mode, it's a Telkom 5102G :)

One problem is that the Xbox360 will most likely not be able to work on such a setup :(

Some help guys...

Hi there,

Sorry for asking the same things again but you all confused me a bit around the Firmware....

Lets say I want to order an 384 ADSL line tomorrow what Router should I buy? What Firmware do I need to load and is your script working fine?

My setup:

1 standard PC's and 1 Gaming PC on a switch (Static IP coz don't have a DHCP)
1 Xbox 360

I don't think I can really split the International and local bandw. with software and still be able to play with both pc's and the xbox 360 at the same time?? So my only option is a Linksys router?? Correct?

Thanks a lot guys...

You will need the linksys wrt54gl router to use this script...its really easy to setup because its basically copy/paste....

you must use the dd-wrt firmware

Mine worked perfectly from the start

Just remember that the Linksys WRT54GL is only a router, you will still need an ADSL modem.

Another option, if you have an old computer lying around, is to install IPCop or Ubuntu and do routing that way. There are threads on here describing those solutions as well.

So the hardware will work out about R1200 - R1400...

Have anyone ever used that Route Sentry with DDProxy? This should be fine if it works. I can set the proxy server to Local or International (create 2 shortcuts on the desktop to edit the regedit and set IE to use Local or Int. account)

Then with DDProxy setup the Local and Int. access and I can setup the xbox with the international proxy as well?

Will there be any probs with this setup? All I need is a Router (mecer adsl wireless router will be around R350 cost) and only about R500 pm... then 3GB int. with 27GB local (one account from Web Africa) and also a 30GB local account from Web Africa.

Is this a good or stupid plan?

Thanks peeps...
