I have always used a 3G USB modem from vodacom but bought a new laptop with integrated 3G but when I insert my Sim card into the laptop it doesn't do anything. The USB modem was plug and play. Can someone guide my what to do.

Thanks:confused:

What kind of laptop?

My HP Probooks 3g card needs to be switched on (the same button as the wifi/bluetooth) and then if I open HP connection manager it shows up.

It's also recomended to remove the battery b4 inserting the sim. Possible damage to either or, + 1 to the wireless button.

thanks for the replies but done all that. Its an Acer Travelmate 5730. I'll try to phone the guys I bought the Laptop from today, maybe they can help.

Is the software loaded and does the internal modem show up in device manager ?

The modem shows up in device manager, but what software should be loaded? Should I download something from Vodacoms website? Thanks for the assistance it is greatly appreciated.

I think Acer uses a program called Globe Trotter or something like that.

Yes, it shows up as globe trotter but should I still download something from their site or is it just a setting I need to change?
