The i7 3770 and 3770K were the last of the 1155 chipset CPUs, so thats about as far as she'll go bar replacing your motherboard.

Is it worth it though?

Depends on what you are doing.
If you are just gaming, then no. But if you are running some heavy CPU programs (stats generation, simulation engines etc) then the extra cores will help alot.

Mostly just gaming, maybe I should upgrade GFX card. I currently have MSI N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC GTX660Ti 2GB Power Edition OC 192-Bit PCI-E 3.0 28nm

That... I recently upgraded my GPU from a 580 to a 960 and I've noticed huge performance gains. I'm running an i5 760.

What is the best bang for buck GFX card out there, keeping in mind i'm not really an AMD fan?

WOW, thanks for that. The i5 actually outperform the i7 in certain areas. Interesting. Will look into a GFX card rather.

For gaming you won't even notice the CPU upgrade, but you'll see a huge difference with a GFX Card upgrade.

have a look on the carbonite forums, theres some really good deals on GPU's there, just make sure they have warranty remaining then you are all good to go

At the moment its a toss-up between the GTX 960 and the GTX 970 i.t.o bang-for-buck.
I'd say the 960 if you are really stretched for cash, otherwise definitely get the 970.

gtx750ti.. can pick them up for about R 2300 bucks and very good performance reviews..

That would be a bad choice, since you can essentially double the performance for R700 more with a GTX960.

Also in the same price class the R9 270x just straight out out performs it by a relatively large margin, like it or not but AMD pwned Nvidia's GTX7xx series hard.
Only the GTX 9xx is worth it.

Secondhand it would be possible to get both a R9 280x and GTX960 for around R2500, but GTX960 will be rare to find secondhand.
