Intel launches Skull Canyon i7 mini PC

Very nice. Everything you need without having to worry about chassis and cooling and wiring.

If past launches are anything to go by, it'll hit shelves just in time for Christmas! Don't mind me, I'm just bitter because the Compute Sticks launched at the beginning of January aren't available yet.

If it supported a thunderbolt 3 based external graphics, it could be very popular.
 
Very nice, and very powerful... but quite lacking in the GFX department..

The chip alone is $350 (although the desktop equivalent is probably $100 less). You're not going to get far with $300 (or even $400), trying to buy a Z170 board, chassis, PSU and cooling. Everything else is the same as a normal mITX build.

Everyone was basing their comments on the article not on your version of the article. Some people dont think those specs are entry level

You said "top end". It's a good machine, but definitely not top end. I think you'd struggle to build anything lower spec than they did - do you even get 4GB DDR4 modules? Sure, fit a 60GB drive if you want, but what's the point, and how much will you actually save?

16gb of ram is pretty decent, the harddrive might be small and I'll upgrade that but compared to what is out there this is pretty good.

but if you want a god box it would be $650 + $300 (2x500gb m.2 ssd drives) + $200 (32gb ram) = $1050. Prices for ssd and ram from amazon and excludes windows pricing of course.
