Intel Pledges to Retake Innovation Crown, Changes Yardstick

Intel Corp., playing catch-up in semiconductor technology after losing its long-held dominance, vowed to become the industry leader again in 2025 by rethinking some of the fundamentals of how chips are made, and signed up rival Qualcomm Inc. as a manufacturing customer.

Any competition should be good for the end-user, after all is said and done. If it weren't for AMD and their Zen architecture, we would probably still be rocking dual core i7's.

This is definitely good news in general.

I think Intel have a fairly large "gap" to try and cover to be competitive with AMD but cycles and all that. Intel will be on top again in the future, and for that matter so will AMD.
