Ok guys so like my samsung laptop currently has a intel dual core processor and I want to upgrade it to a core i5 or i7 where can I upgrade it at a reasonable price in pretoria

Why the cpu?

More RAM and/or SSD is usually a better idea... What's your use case?

More information would help tremendously but I think you're going to be looking at a new notebook unless they made a newer mainboard for your notebook.

If its a C2D you're probably not going to get an iSeries CPU to fit in it, I put in an SSD in as my C Drive and Hard Drive Caddy in place of my optical drive for storage the results my 4 year old laptop is flying! I would suggest however having atleast 4 gigs of ram if your laptop doesn't currently have that

Samsung NP300E5C notebook
CPU: Intel celeron
Memory:4GB
HDD:1TB

mind the fact that this notebook was a gift from my mom...
So like now I use this notebook for a number of thing including varsity stuff, and Games of course. .but I feel its too slow for my liking that's why I want to know if its possible to upgrade its processor without actually having to buy a new one..

As far as I can tell, that CPU (Intel Pentium B960 @ 2GHz, Dual Core) can be upgraded to a Sandy/Ivy Bridge Core i5/i7, but the problem would be to get hold of that mobile CPU!

I won't recommend the Quad-Core (45W TDP) versions of the i7, because of the CPU generating more heat under load.

Your current CPU has the Intel HD2000 GPU vs the i5/i7 ones that has the Intel HD3000 GPU, so the faster CPU's will also have better graphics performance - but perhaps not enough still.
You'll be better off with a laptop with a discrete (Nvidia/AMD) graphics card, but that is going to cost you like R8k for a "gaming" class laptop.

You know, when one can get a Core i3 for just under R700 with shipping, and you look at the desktop versions only starting at R1200, you have to wonder exactly how much money Intel makes off each mobile processor. And since all desktop Core i-generation processors are now the same silicon as their mobile counterparts, how much money are they making off those parts?
