Intel Touts WiMAX Strides

Intel is walking a fine line. They need to promote the standard and build momentum to begin to recoup their investment, but they need to be careful that they are accurate in their statements. No one likes an exaggerator
IMHO this also includes liers! Telkom should take note of this truth!

What is this fuss all about anyway? When will we see local action?

2080 somewhere when we get another telecoms operator.

Performance on the 'WiMax' chipsets in terms of indoor ability are less than brilliant. Systems such as Navini with beam forming antenna still kick its ass a good distance.

Speed performance per cell is also not mind blowing on 'WiMax' either. Most companies are reporting cell speeds dropping from the 'suggested' rates of 10Mbit/s down to threes and fours when you add low modulation clients.

As a standard - its great, for Intel, it will pay off - just not yet IMHO.
