Eternal enemies — Intel vs AMD

The battle of the chipmakers is heating up, with the old guard showing signs of a return to dominance while the edgy innovators are not backing down.

Intel is the world's biggest manufacturer of x86-based computer chips, both in market value and market share.

Sparc. That is all.
32-core, 256-thread SPARC M8 microprocessor at 5.0 GHz.

I used to be a intel guy since Pentium 1 (133mhz) then got a celeron early 00s hey did the job ran games (unlike these days on celerons)
then went with FX6300 i think it was first 64bit cpu i went with was great did college work (design) on it and did very well sadly no hyperthreading then

then years later went with 3470 i5 and damn i must say that beast lasted 8 years played everything no issues till CODMW came along

cpu was busy going and was time for upgrade used some UIF bucks (long story) and re did my whole system except for the GPU (GTX1080)

Now im def gonna say AMD is my go to unless next time i upgrade intel does the better rounds of course

Ryzen 5 5600x (no need for Ryzen 7 on my end) got it on launch and very happy with it must just get a different cooler (make it all fancy and stuff) got a good deal too.

my one issue with intel 12th gen is the power draw and the stupid DDR5 prices (atm)
but doesnt justify an upgrade on my end atm.

wouldnt touch AMD before this chip

In terms of laptop, I usually buy I5, and upgrade ram and change hdd to ssd. I have been considering replacing my still functional but 10 year old Lenovo T410. Which AMD is similar to performance of the I5 (yes I know there is variety of I5) but what should I look for. Not a heavy graphic intensive user on laptop.

I swing the flag of AMD, Intel, IBM, ARM & Nvidia
Everyone makes a chip for a specific purpose & has the right use case for certain apps or requirements.
Very little IBM power traction in africa though.

Even a Ryzen 3 ULV would be a step up from the T410, but if you want something really decent that you could keep almost as long, then go for something with a Ryzen 5 4500U at least.
