Intel X-25V SSD upgrade

So what is the best SDD. I can get the Apacer ones at pinnacle but still don't know if I should go for 2x 30GB or just 1x 64GB

Depends what you are going to be using it for? If it is a windows drive 2x 30GB's in raid would serve you nicely :)

ok It's windows. The 30GB is slower than the 64gb but if I raid them I don't know. Also I don't know if Apacer is a good brand

In theory you should get twice the speed. But you get about a 80% increase. Apacer is not a well known brand but a good one nonetheless.

O shaks I forgot that I only have like 1 SSD brackets so is there any other way of mounting 2 SSD and if not it seems like I must go for the 64GB one.

R1500 for that 60GB SSD isn't bad, but this special of R2000 for the 120GB was way better :D

It's just a the 60GB version of the G.Skill drive everyone is suggesting in other threads. When you buy an SSD, have a look at the controller.

This drive has a Sandforce 1200 controller which is good.

Whats your price bracket? Remember that you lose TRIM when you Raid. Google ;)

Saw on youtube a guy just used double sided tape to stick his drive onto one of the open drive bays. Works like a bomb.

This Sandforce controller currently one of the top performer in the market - Definitely worth the money.

will a 60GB SSD be enough for my operating system drive

Yeah, it's enough for Windows 7 or Mac OS X or whatever your run (linux) plus a whole bunch of apps.

I installed Windows 7 and Office 2007 (plus all updates) and some other applications on the 40Gig and got about 8 gig left. Keep you photos, music etc on a second drive. Should you have problems later its just a question of formatting your SSD for a clean install.

Also another question. Should I enable AHCI mode in the bios or leave it at IDE mode

Ok, maybe 120GB is my next buy, will toss out my old Mushkin 60gb SSD and put it into my lappie.

Holy crap thats a load of bloat. Look at vLite for Windows 7 to strip it down. once you removed all the stuff you don't need like language packs, printer drivers, obscure network protocols etc you will have a much slimmer install.

My OS only takes up about 4GB (Linux) while my Win7+Office2007 virtualbox image is about 10GB.
