Intel's new CPUs will feature built-in DRM

Oh ffs Intel....we shall be parting ways old friend.

no worries, this will be cracked within three weeks of it's debut! :D

If Intel will do it, you can bet AMD will do it too - maybe not as fast, but it will follow.

Everything is going the way where they are trying to stop piracy in any possible way.

if its digital, it can be cracked. problem is, since its hardware based, there will be no quick fix when it is cracked. good luck Intel. you have clearly underestimated your adversaries.

Ag nee ***et man.
Just when I was perusing an article this morning about how awesome the Sandy Bridge architecture is.

Why is everyone getting so upset with Intel? This isn't going to affect any of us at all unless you plan on renting movies online (by the sounds of it... 'Streaming content will be DRM protected').

So why is everyone now suddenly wanting to jump ship when you are not going to be affected. And i'm sure intel will make a version which doesn't have the graphics card built in and therefore will not have the DRM technology. Seriously, just relax people.

I think it's quite a good idea.. It will open up quite a few new business models, or at least allow easier implementation of them.

this can only work if ppl buy sandy bridges, I am an optimistic I dont think ppl will buy this willingly ;)

It will be a useful way to restrict where hollywood content is viewed. Same for BBC - just like they do with their iplayer etc. No mor proxies.

Because people don't like being restricted.

This is going to fail more the windows vista. Business model of fail coming right up. DRM = fail

Exactly. You can all still pirate, so chill. What ever you can do now, you will be able to do with these new chips (without the need for any cracking).
