Intelsat New Dawn satellite blasts off

Finally......... ;) and good luck.

Operating from a geostationary orbital slot at 32.8º East, Intelsat New Dawn will be ideally positioned to serve Africa through a payload optimized to deliver new capacity for voice, wireless backhaul, fixed line and wireless infrastructure, broadband and media– the fastest growing satellite-based applications in Africa.

Lies, you know the "payload" also contains CIA mind control Access Points RPM! Didnt they tell you about 802.11Y? 666.66Mhz Standard? Its the wifi standard of the devil! The truth is out there, friend.

Looking at the area it covers, gonna be tough for these guys now that all these cables have landed

That’s my line.

32.8 Deg East? That means dishes will be pointing directly overhead (ie. due north)? Dishes will need drain plugs ;)

Not correct! Dishes will have to point North NOT up ! ! ! All modern dishes are Offset-Focused! If you point your dish strait up you'll only receive the Martians :D

Will that be a copper line or fiber, and how long will the cable need to be to reach geosynchronous orbit?

But they forget - satellite is notoriously slow. Do what you like, you have a guaranteed transmission delay. Travelling at the speed of light, you still need to get there and back, and that adds on a couple of hundred milliseconds to you packet's travel time.

And a couple of hundred milliseconds may as well be a lifetime in online gaming.

Actually... This satellite is serving Africa, so if you are on the equator in Kenya, your dish will be pointing virtually straight up (even with an offset Ku-band dish).
