intentionally damaging equipment?

Imagine an insurance investigator stumbled upon this thread...

There is nothing I dread more than IT audits and insurance reports when it comes to 'new' customers.

but my question still remains? has anybody been placed in such a position before?
or is it just something that happens to me specifically?

No, I have been asked to commit similar actions. The best is to walk away, even when it means to compromise on your employment or client by walking away innocently. This is how I see it, the company sees it as loyalty, but it is nothing more than unethical and bad business practice, not to mention Fraudulent as already stated in this thread. Besides, scapegoating is a thing.

I’m a hardass, it is how my moral compass is orientated.

Dishonesty is no rarity in business practice, neither is hypocrisy and lies.

IE we want to damage our PC's/Mac's in such a way that we can easily claim from insurance/IT/Rental company
What the ****.

So you figured you'd just crowd-source the optimal fraud method on a public forum???

I'm concerned for you on multiple levels here...

I'd be inclined to do a bit of whistle blowing actually

Hell, just give the oke an answer.

If you connect 220V on the motherboard it will fry some stuff - Simulated lightning strike. TADA !

Edit: This needs to be done in the right season though.

no thanks, going to not be a part of this, really really bad idea as I thought all along in all honestly.

that way Im in the clear, I was never part of it, and was against it from the start.

Obvious a bad idea - Just wanted to give you a straight answer on your question. :D

Hi all,

let me start off by saying I dont agree at all with intentionally damaging equipment in order to claim from insurance/IT

I also dont agree with people that damage anything in order to claim a better product/service/good by doing this,

I feel there are always better options available, instead of damaging/Destroying equipment, IE keeping for spares/donate/sell
but, what would you do if you are placed in such a situation?

IE we want to damage our PC's/Mac's in such a way that we can easily claim from insurance/IT/Rental company

would you do it? if so how?
if not, what would you do to avoid doing it?

is there an easy way out of doing such a thing?

I would definitely not cover my PC with a wool blanket and run a stress test on it for an extended period of time.

You're in for a world of hurt here OP. Insurance fraud, you will get caught and you will never be able to get insurance ever again.

Problem for you now, is that you are party to it by not reporting it to the insurance company IF the action does take place....

You are already part of it just because you know about it, whether you are there on the day it is done or not. The only option I can see here is being a wistle blower to the insurance company.
If they do it and get away with it, this thing will eat you up each and every day.
