Anyone ever invested in a firm called VCC / (Or in SARS terms, Section 12J) ?

Reading the pro's and con's .... sjoe (is it to good to be true) ?

If it sounds like it's too good to be true, it probably is. Especially when it comes to investing.

I have read up ... and SARS even gives you a MUCH better rebate related to RA's. The only thing is, you need to hold the investment for 5 years.

Did you read the comments on that article?

Yes I did. It all boils down to, to invest in the right VCC I think.

- Sars gives you a rebate on personal tax.
- You earn dividends (19% a year)
- Sars in essence refunds you within 5 years for your investment

What do you have to lose (that is my question)

It's stuuuuupidly risky, but the payoffs can be significant.

That's what put me off, its gambling (picking the correct VCC) - also the potential for high fees and other charges put me off.

If you compare this with the BTC global saga... SARS is involved all the time, so the firms must meet requirement to comply

Whoop de do. It's still VC. They don't pay dividends if they go bankrupt. There's a reason that SARS is giving you the cuts they are - otherwise nobody would be investing. You also get tax breaks for donating to registered charities - doesn't mean you get anything worth while in return.

Well, before I do anything, I want to see the firms financials ... that is a good starting point
