We're looking at painting a few of the rooms in our new place, and I was hoping for some advice on what paint to use? We are going white, and I am looking for something that will provide good coverage, square meter-wise, as well as being able to cover the current paint, which is more of a creme color.

Not looking for something glossy, and I was looking at Plascon Velvet sheen interior.

Anyways, any suggesions welcome!

Thanks

Assuming the current substrate paint is PVA of decent quality and good condition, you should have no problems covering a light base with 2 coats of decent quality paint.

We usually specify plascon or dulux trade paints in our commercial developments. Universal paints also have SABS accreditation.

Depending on how much sheen you are looking for, any standard sheen or satin finish should give you a low reflectivity surface.

If you want more more light reflection, have a look at Dulux "light and space" range They also do a low VOC range if you are eco and/or health conscious.

Also suggest you prepare the substrate by washing with a sugar soap solution prior to first coat. And there are many shades of "white" to choose from.
