Hey there, new here so hope I'm in the right section.
I've been having issues with my adsl for the last month or so.
Still using the same connection as I was in the beginning of the year, so can't be that.
Recently got a new router, Billion 7300, which isn't the problem, it was tested at my isp with my data connection configured.
So, what happens is that my 4096 line will suddenly decide it wants to synch at 1024, or 3072, etc. This is always random. Currently it is at 4096 and was stable on Sunday for over 10 hours.
Telkom came out and found a problem at the exchange, however intermittent drops persist.
Next tech came out and said it was the connection of the alarm on the other extension, however with this disconnected, problem persists, so I only half believe that.
I have changed filters but still having issues, which brings me here.

Is there anything else I need to check or will I just have to live with this?

I am experiencing similar issues to you.

Random line drops, everything was fine when I first got my line, then it started to drop about 3 weeks after and still persists.
Busy working with TelkomZA on a resolution.

I am thinking exchange related, possibly the port or copper somewhere even.

Good luck! I shall let you know if I get my issue resolved.

I put everything back to how it was before Telkom Tech was here and Sunday it was stable for 10 hours.

But that was the best day, now getting about 3 hours of stable connectivity.

Stats on my line, from router:

Upstream 512 kbps
Downstream 4096 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 12.0 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 6.5 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 31.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 62.5 db

And 30 minutes later:

Upstream 512 kbps
Downstream 3840 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 12.0 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 6.5 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 31.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 62.5 db

Been a while and still struggling.
I had a tech come out and he worked did some troubleshooting with both extensions in the house.
First was fine then second one, where alarm is connected was tested.
This "seemed" to be the issue and he insisted the alarm was interfering.
pots filter was placed on that line, alarm connection disconnected and he left.
Half an hour later, Internet disconnected...I seriously doubt it was the alarm.
Anyway, being the end of the year I left it and only contacted ADT this month.
Tech came out and alarm is fine, not interfering with ADSL.
I know someone with access to line tested, my line was tested and showed loss of signal.
Minutes later it was fine again...I think there might be a problem

Had another tech out and seems like there is a problem with an overhead cable.

Internet has been pathetic as of late, can barely browse some mornings :(

Lets hope my problem gets sorted now...

Your attenuation on your downstream is *really* bad.
When my line was like that the only way to get it stable was to drop the sync profile to 3mb.
