Spoke to my isp tech this morning when all these problems started again. Apparently Telkom are making major network enhancements that SHOULD be finished Sunday.
They are apparently royally screwing up and certain ports, eg for accessing Google on POP are particularly badly hit. I did try Telkom famous help line first (ever the optimist), but according to them everything is like beautiful sunshine in the morning. NO PROBLEMS. So Telkom won't admit anything at all so we are at the mercy of these bastards. Neotel please roll out your services faster so we can DUMP this incompetent self serving couldn't give a **** company.
Yes I am angry can't even log onto my market data provider
Great I've been away for 4 days, and I get back to this. I'm paying through the teeth for my unshaped conn, and I'm getting up to 10k ms pings to sites
I have the same problem at the moment (in Plumstead)... Trying to connect to EVE Online or World of Warcraft is virturally impossible unless you try between about 2-7 in the morning... International websites are just as bad... taking me about 5mins to load google in "Low Bandwith" mode...
Yesterday:
I called MWeb and they said that the speed is a Talkom problem...
I called Telkom and they said that the speed is a MWeb problem...
I called MWeb again and they assured me they have nothing to do with the problem and it is talkom...
Today:
I called Telkom and they said It is SAIX problem...
I called SAIX and guess what! They say its Telkoms problem...
Jeesus will South Africa EVER get there **** together with internet?? I for one do not enjoy paying for a connection which only works in the erliest hours of the morning when its 10degrees out side and pitchblack...
I've been battling to retrieve my mail for two days now, from Constantia in Cape Town T. Both Deedee and Cirus at the Telkom Helpdesk claim they're not aware of any problems. Don't Telkom access myadsl or is that just their stock-standard reply?
Bellville - I can make a cup of coffee and read a chapter of my book (Terry Pratchett's Going Postal .. Ironically the Clacks towers' monopoly and overcharging seems to sound a lot like Telkom ) before my gmail account loads up. Nevermind how long it takes for my frikkin e-mails to download.
4mbps my hairy ass.... (please excuse the graphical nature of that statement)
Bah, forgot to mention - it's been like this for a few days now... It works in bursts... One moment fine, next moment uber slow... **shrug**
I'm experiencing the same problem with international access as well. RIght now I can't even load http://news.bbc.co.uk Usually it loads within seconds. Up down up down. Is this only in CT or all over SA?
