International down?

Oh shut up, thread title is "International down?".

I commented on Seacom which has a history of outages (planned or not), I never said anything about MWEB but you jumped in there like a rabbit dog and brought them up, wtf?

Considering your post takes into question MWEB's reliability since they use Seacom (which is not the case), and because MWEB was the main discussion here, I wanted to bring it up as a courtesy to make sure you and others do not have any misbeliefs about MWEB because they use Seacom. And that issues like this do not happen regularly, and there are no problems with reliability.

TI usually don't have international issues like this. Seacom regularly seems to have issues, why aren't they as reliable as the other carriers?

Get lost, the thread is not about mweb but the seacom planned maintenance, I never mentioned MWEB!!!

This is an MWEB thread and you mentioned one of / their main backbones regularly being down. Yet MWEB is never down. So I'm a bit unsure of your point?

You sure you don't work for mweb mate?

Perhaps one of the directors?

postmanpot when he hears the word mweb.

Most of us are interested in ISPs and the best internet we can get, so I can understand why you would see it that way. You like Telkom, we have Crystal Web clients joining in as well, etc.

I enjoy helping people with good advice. You have your own beliefs too, so do the CWers, etc. It is childish to equate eager participation with being a rabid dog.

I apologise, it's not an MWEB thread. Please be a pal and elaborate on what you mean by Seacom regularly having issues? Are you referring to its impact on ISPs and the end user, or from a maintenance point of view? Perhaps these are the same thing.

Faults & maintenance. Not the same thing. Some ISPs don't use them, others use a combination of carriers, others get more traffic allocated on other carriers when the scite hits the fan one one but at the end of the day my reply was directly related to seacom & not about any isp's that use them or how they mitigate these events.

I understand, and thanks for clarifying. In terms of my interest in Seacom, I've never felt any faults/maintenance, though I'm not sure what their relationship with MWEB is, or their level of reliance on Seacom, ease to mitigate, etc. I mention MWEB because no other ISP suffering loss of performance was discussed. I hope you can understand that I felt people would misconstrue your post to mean that MWEB suffers often from this. You can further understand how most people would, incorrectly, simply be in agreement about it, due to the underlying misbeliefs about MWEB that many people have.

I wonder if all Mweb clients can now visit cnn .com :D

Crystal web working just fine for me. As is FNB connect incidentally.

Internet the way it should be. No single points of failure.

You mean you didn't experience some once-off slow international yesterday? Were you using Seacom yesterday?

Just trying to understand your comment in relation to the discussion.

The topic says "International down?".

My comment says I had no issues at all. If you can't see the relevance then perhaps you need glasses? :p

That it does. I was wondering about the relevance given that maintenance ended at 22h00 last night.

Possibly explains your obsession with plasma tv as well :p

How many fingers am I holding up?

You think a technology that uses instantaneously self-illuminated pixels which can decide to turn off or on (white or black (off)) is worse than a technology that uses an entire pixel matrix panel backlit in order to to be illuminated, even backlit to create blacks?

If so, which I suspect you do, you do not know a thing about it, and should therefore pick better topics to derail to.
