International Roaming - Mozambique

Hi

I will be travelling to Mozambique next week and am looking for the cheapest way to stay connected

Cell C's website shows that if you activate international roaming you will pay on Vodacom R10.16 for a call home, R3.14 for and sms and R104.69 per mb. These prices are quite harsh

I am thinking of maybe trying to get a local pre-paid sim card once there instead

Any other suggestions

Local prepaid sim card, or sms roam on thing.

Local cards are a dime a dozen there. And the call and data rates are cheap. Don't bother with roaming when travelling unless absolutely necessary...

Just get there and buy their prepaid sims and save thousands of rands, roaming is a beast that will bite you when come back & the bill arrives. I've heard of people crying about thousands due to roaming& if I'm not mistaken you even get charged for receiving a call while roaming

To be precise, you pay for the international leg of the incoming call when roaming.

If you still want to receive SMS's, don't forget to cancel all call forwarding before leaving the country, USSD code: ##002# It will delete your mailbox.

A local prepaid SIM is your best friend. Forget roaming. It's a beast and a nightmare waiting to happen.

Sure, it's a bit of a hassle in obtaining a prepaid SIM, but that hassle is minor in comparing to the ****storm you get when presented with an OOB bill.
