International

Experiencing problems in Somerset West. Probably the terrible weather we're having. And it's not just international, having problems with local sites too

I am on M-Web, I never have problems. It stable as a rock, my speeds are constant. (around the 4 Meg mark)

I only get problems when I use my Axxess account for local downloading. I think the smaller service providers are more sensitive to bandwidth problems, due to that fact they have less bandwidth to start with.

I remember during the old days of dail-up, there use to be diagram of which ISP's go through which ISP's. I wonder if there is something like that for ADSL.

I'm on MWEB too and definitely having issues

webafrica puts it down to last mile (between my house and the exchange/tower) which is bull$hit as local and international comes in over the same connection and I have no problem with local http traffic only problems with international (time to start looking fro another isp as well)

Try http://www.ispmap.org.za/

Cheers

Most of my international is very slow, certain few are perfectly fine though.

Yesterday the 19th everything seemed normal, but now form about 12:00 the shame $hit happens again, fast local, international very unstable and my ISP webafrica is useless as they first tried to put the blame on the last mile and then on my pc (It is clearly an other issue, as VPN browsing is 100% fine, skype/ftp is 100% just international http browsing is stuffed

Very sporadic HTTP access for me too using SAIX, other protocols are stable. This is without the SAIX proxy. IS works fine.

Response from Axxess to my support ticket complaining about the sporadic international speeds:

"There are still alot of changes taking place on the network, both from IS side as well as on SAIX side."

At least axxess admits that there are problems/issues with the network. WebAfrica just tries to blame it on me or my computer (They don't realise I have over 20 Years of IT background, so I know when the problem is local or not, but I am using my last Gigs with them and then Bye Bye Web Africa)

Same here ...Telkom...(Cape winelands) since yesterday...tracert time outs on international all over the place...(from the second hop on Telkom servers) on hold for 10 minutes again....

starts around lunch time - yesterday and today...logged fault at 0800375375...got a ref number - today (surprise) they know nothing about it .... dear Melvin, where did you put it?

DNS propagation here we go again....
