Hi

I would like to set this up but do not know if it is possible. i want to be able to limit all internet traffic except to individual pc's. Such as my brother downloads all the tiime so i want to make it so that when i play online i have most of the bandwidth. i would like to be able to do this with out having to go to his pc and limiting it there.

Has any1 got any idea how to do this?
 
fscket flippy, just let your brother surf dude... don't be greedy now!

see if his download monitor has a schedule setting, which limits the speed between certain times - maybe he won't even know if you don't throttle him toooo much :confused:
 
i'm not sure about those...maybe smear some peanut butter on his network cable - should cause some interference and make your connection FASTER!

heh..nah i'm just kidding. tell your mom and come up with an agreement for him to pause his downloads when it's your game time - it's only fair... then u got 100% Bandwidth!
 
i have decided to give pfsense a try. i have managed to get it installed and set up but i am having trouble with the traffic shapeing. i was wondering if u can help me as i do not know what to do here and i cant find any forums or guides that are being of much help? and also for the priotry is it the closer to 0 the more priority it has or the other way around

bdt is correct in saying it is QoS related.

Not sure what router you have, but login to your router page http://192.168.1.254 <-- I presume that is the IP unless it is different from the default Billion VGP, Have a look at QoS settings you can adjust timed restrictions by internal IP, there was another setting to change prioritisation in the Router, can't recall the tab but just have a look around.

I still believe in diplomacy though so as a last resort take Keeper's advice:

I've never actually used the traffic shaping features on my pfSense but its just a case of going through a simple wizard for the setup? :confused:

If you don't come right with that then head over to the pfSense website and go to the support section where they have a forum, mailing lists and even an IRC channel where you can find help.
