I need some advice from the experts here (yes, another thread like this)

i need better internet at home...... According to a line i have this

ADSL Check Results
Ports Available: true
ADSL Support : Yes
Max Speed : 40960 kbps

and LTE coverage.

Requirements are as follows:

youtube video watching
let my daughter have access via tablet
the odd big download
general browsing
some Xbox gaming

what would be the cheapest and best option to achieve the above ? preferably a 6m line, uncapped option or about R500 - R600pm, line included

I wanted to say afrihost, but unfortunately I can't recommend them. From what I have heard their company Axxess is still doing good so it might be worth checking out this:

For the budget you listed you will only be able to get a 4Mbps Uncapped account including line rental from them:
https://www.axxess.co.za/combos-uncapped

Some other worth while options:

Web Africa:
300 GB (60GB anytime + 240GB from midnight – 6am) Capped plus 10Mbps Line included for R599
https://www.webafrica.co.za/home/adsl/

VOX Promo:
http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/131720-massive-100gb-adsl-special-launched.html

However I don't think VOX is a good choice for your budget and expectations.

Personally The web africa option will be the best in fact it might even be over kill so you might get away with saving more money on a smaller package.

Disclaimer:
If you are really desperate then there is openweb, they are unethical and you might be lucky and get a fully functional line or you might not be and get shafted by Keoma Wright, the scum scam artist god himself.

I will however advise you not to be desperate.

10meg +-100gig capped, you don't need uncapped...

As for which ISP to get it from, I'm on Afrihost so I clearly know nothing;)

No problem just post your questions here and I'll help you out.

You might want to give a quick eye on telkom's website too as slvR suggested, as it doesn't work on my pc so I couldn't view the deals

Afrihost would most likely be the most affordable and I really wanted to suggest them.... BUT I can't not with the current stuff.

Thor,

if i do decide try out Netflix etc, will the 4mb line be enough

Thor,

Im on 4mb capped solution with WebAfrica and do Netflix HD thing with hola on my laptop connected to TV.

It buffers at the start but then goes fine.

I don't have netflix, but my neighbor does and he has a 4mb/s line with WA so I definitely think you would be able to.

He uses the Netflix/unotolly combo setup

i think i must get telkom to install my adsl line 1st.

this will work fine i presume ?

Why would you say this? I use it for the same reasons as the OP and it works perfectly! Unless you are referring to the uncapped requirement? I suggest he first sees how much he actually uses before he goes uncapped, as he says he is not a heavy downloader.

Vox is generally more expensive OP wants a 6Mbps line + Data for +-R500, he will get more value for money on WA for that budget since the data portion will be more affordable than vox's data, by all means your welcome to prove me wrong (:

So the Vox thing will be R164, plus R250 for the line correct, or are there any other charges ?

Well since you don't pay for a 6Mbps line but rather 10Mbs:

Vox 100GB (R164) + 10Mbps ADSL Line (R425) = R589

or

Vox 100GB (R164) + 4Mbps ADSL Line (R299) = R463
