Internet Banking on ubuntu?

Hey guys! I did my first bit of internet banking ever yesterday! It also happened to be on my Ubuntu box and it work flawlessly :D I'm so impressed!

Sweet.

Just out of curiosity, let's say that a USB flash drive is infected with malware and inserted into a Linux machine. There's no way that it can be executed by the OS? (Linux noob here)

You can install WINE and try to make Windows virus work - to see what will it do on Windows (WINE creates own file system inside your home folder which looks like Windows one). Otherwise Linux doesn't use PE format used by Windows executables so Windows virus doesn't work on Linux - browse freely and ignore warnings about malware attack sites.
BTW virus is program which attacks Windows and should be called Windows virus, though there are some legends that there is virus for Linux and BSD and so on.

Haha, :P I've been using Ubuntu for the last 4/5 years, but I only just registered for Internet banking last week. But thanks for the welcome!

Mkay, but I don't understand how people could still go into banks to do things these days with internet banking. Been doing it for 8yrs now.

As has been said, no. Plugging the flash disk into a linux box is a great way to find and get rid of the virus(es) though! You look for unknown files and folders and just delete them ;)

I am not sure what a security suite is but all it takes is a unknown threat to get on your computer or one that disables the AV software and your information is gathered. This does not happen on a Linux system it could theoretically but there are no known viri, worms, malware...etc on the web waiting for a Linux computer . Your linux set up can theoretically be cracked but any infections wont effect you they are written for drilling into MS systems.

Well to be fair, I'm 19, so I haven't had a whole lot of banking to do before now...:D

19, you still got at least 10 yrs before you need to worry about banking convenience. I got creche fees, dr bills, nappy bills, groceries, maid, wife, ex-wife, nearly-teenage daughter, 3yr old geek, etc .. etc .. etc ...
