Internet broken in 12+ African countries

After major damage to 2 vital undersea cables. if you are in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Camaroon or Ivory Coast and you have been having problems accessing the internet or not been able to stream for the most part of the week. It's because two under sea cables connected to the continents western coast were destroyed this week, it has been reported by WeeTracker.
Why is it that we have not been informed about this serious situation by our service providers.
Bloomberg reports there is no way knowing when normal connectivity will be restored since parts of the cable lie thousands of meters under the sea.
Have not had any communication from afrihost

Oh no! What are we going to do? Lucky my provider already notified me yesterday morning via a formal email
 
Why do they not Route Trafic then through the SAFE cables ? Is that because its competition for Telkom ?
In Normal IT you have fail safe options .... do we only have the one set of cables connecting SA to the world via openserve ?

Most ISP's are. Backup capacity. The SAFE cables are now congested as a result.
It's why we still have international access, albeit, very slow.
