Guys,

Answer something for me...

X browser claims it's the fastest browser on the market and along comes XX browser says it's the fastest.

I don't get it, how do you judge what internet browser is the fastest? what does that mean exactly?

They mean speed of rendering not speed of downloading the content.

Most websites today have tons of scripting etc. a 'faster' browser will execute these scripts and render etc. quicker.

...that's my understanding anyway.

Think of it like a gaming engine, the more effort put into the engine the better the output will be at gameplay.

Usually it refers to javascript performance. Depending on which test you do different browsers come out on top.

MS has recently been on a render speed tangent 'cause the next IE is going to be hardware accelerated (rendering).
