After waiting forever for my exchange to be ADSL enabled, I have decided to seek other options. Telkom have been pushing back enabling our exchange since 2005 and it was supposed to be done on the 31st of August, but when I called they said it was pushed back to March 08.

I currently use ISDN 128k which is alright for downloading/surfing but I need something better for gaming, specifically Xbox Live and PSN. ISDN is fine for WoW but I seem to get terrible pings for Live. Can anyone recommend me a connection that I could use for this. It can only be for gaming since I will still probably keep the ISDN. 1GB a month should be enough.

Well If you going to use Xbox Live & PNS out side of S.A the fastest you can get is 4Mb DSL if you going to stay inside of S.A for Live/PSN you could try 384k/512k

as for 1GB a month it should be fine of you plan opnly on playing a few times a month I have seen 1GB caps used up in a matter of 3 days from constant gaming.

I my self are on 64k uncapped SAT DSL pings are horrible 40% of the time but I just bite the bullet and hope for better days!

depends how much bandwidth Live uses...

my2c - ISDN latency BEATS adsl ANYDAY

so if its more than 128k - then you have to go with something bigger

If you are lucky and have a *seriously* good 3G signal then that should work. If the signal is mediocre then its going to be useless for gaming.

Stay away from wireless internet for gaming. Does`nt matter how good the signal strengh is, it just does`nt work. Had iburst, have 3G, best idea is ADSL (I have 384 its much much much better than the 1MB wireless counter parts *cough* Iburst *cough* 3G). But you best gaming connection (latency wise) is ISDN, does however suffer when you wanna play DOA4 or GEARS online :-/
