Internet Explorer 7 Final Released Today

I would rather be dragged across a field of broken glass than use IE7.

According to secunia.com the number of security vulnerabilities in each browser is as follows:

Internet Explorer 7 - 19 Critical
Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7 - 3 Critical
Opera 9.02 - None
Safari - 2 Moderate
Konqueror (Linux) - 1 Critical

It's hilarious how far behind IE7 is in terms of features. Tabbed browsing (made out to be a GREAT new feature) has been available to Opera users since 1996, literally. It's about as far from standards compliance as Telkom is to good customer relations, and best of all you have risk stuffing up your OS installation when setting it up, while enjoying the pleasant experience of waiting 3 hours for the thing to install and having 17000 windows update patches being applied to your system.

Hmmm, maybe I'm a bit biased... but I think it's with good reason! ;)

The classic menu has been replaced by the command bar...

its called ...

Yeah the menu bar should be above the URL bar, it just looks weird being below it. The irritating thing is that the position of the other bars may be freely moved vertically and horizontally, while the URL bar stays fixed no matter what you try.

Not quite, right-click on the command bar and select menu bar to get the classic menu back. Problem is it's no longer at the top, which to me is quite annoying. I'm used to my menu bar at the top since almost every windows app does it that way. This is just retarded.

Yes, the menubar should have been able to be dragged to the top,
But the menubar is dead, Computers are becoming more user-friendly and less geeky....

But hey Im a FF user so I couldn't care less about IE :p

The problem with being too user-friendly is that things could start looking alot more messy and less organised. Looking for pictures that represent functions take up alot more time than looking for text, which is why the menu bar will always be critical to those who want to get things done faster.

Refresh and Stop are now on the URL bar. Favourites, Home, Print etc are on the command bar along with the tabs. Everything is jumbled up with the previous functions on different toolbars instead of one toolbar. LOL like wtf is up with that? I'm a FF user too, which is why I'm being a bit nit-picky. Things aren't where you would expect them to be i.e. ergonomically it could be far better.

don't get me wrong here... I'm not disagreeing with you guys who want the menubar at the top, your absolutely correct IE7 should be more adapting, I'm just telling you that this is the shape of things to come... If you've used Vista you should know by now

XP, Office 2000 and IE6 for life! :o :p

OK. I like to think of myself as a progressive type of guy who will try something new out. So I installed IE7 -- took a while but thanks to two processors I could carry on with other things.

I normally use Firefox, so tabbed browsing is nothing new. What I want to know is what IE7 will do that Firefox wont?
I might just be ignorant but right now I dont see any advantage.

I love Firefox extensions to much to go back to IE.

Sure thing! I agree with you.

IE7 shweet but bond to have some critical updates in the month following final release. I just don't trust IE anymore...

 N7.1
