Internet Explorer 8 the champion, says Microsoft

When it came to blocking malicious software, malware, IE 8 caught 81% of the "live threats" as compared with the 54% finish by the second-place Firefox browser.

WOW that's a first. IE actually besting Firefox

1) I dont think they were using any Firefox add-ons designed for that purpose

2) they probably (~99% certainty) rigged the sample of malware used in the test to favour IE

Bawahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa

Have a look at their "facts"

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/get-the-facts/browser-comparison.aspx

Now tell me is that rigged or not :D

I remember reading that one a while ago. Laughed my ass off.

My personal favourite was the "customisability" field, where all the browsers were tied. Microsoft's explanation was this:
Sure, Firefox may win in sheer number of add-ons, but many of the customizations you'd want to download for Firefox are already a part of Internet Explorer 8 – right out of the box.
So basically Microsoft assumes it knows what you want and so instead of giving you the option to install what you want, they integrate it for you. The fact that that is regarded as positive is classic.

I'm sure the entire world's tinfoil haberdashers will agree with you, but there is no proof of that as the article is way too vague.

Though I do think it would be nice to see what add-ons they were actually using in this comparison so that we could all voice our informed opinions. I dislike IE, but if this comparison was performed with the relevant Firefox add-ons in place then Mozilla have got some work to do.

Microsoft lied, IE8 does NOT have AdBlock Plus, NoScript, DownThemAll, MM3, and TACO installed. These features might well be integrated, but I couldn't be assed looking for them, and using IE long enough to find them would cause me to break out in hives.
