My work laptop use a proxy for the lan at work on IE.

So, at home I use Firefox on the laptop.

I wonder why ie; Google Earth and java update only works when IE is set for normal. So when IE cannot connect to the internet google earth will also not open.

Why is this so?

Google Earth and some programs use the proxy set in IE.

But even with a proxy (i.e. working proxy) you should still be able to update, unless server side has restricted those IPs.

Could also be that your company Firewall is restricting you aswell...
