Internet is slower!?

Hi, I have a 384K line and I usually download at anything from 40KB and up. Lately it's anything from 7-19KB...why would this be? I am with Cybersmart and it's not cloudy or anything or rainy. Neither has it been for a week or so.

Please help...
 
Mine's been slow the entire month.. shockingly bad at the mo. Can't even streaming video at 56k.
 
Dovi, since you are a more experienced internet user in SA (I judge this by the amount of posts you have). Does these things come and go or eh what? I don't hope this is a permanent problem or something. With whom are you and what line do you have...?
 
Im on IS uncapped, getting 0.2k download speed bad packet loss to intl and local sites

--- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---
20 packets transmitted, 11 packets received, 45% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 717.959/732.815/775.850/19.086 ms

--- www.iol.co.za ping statistics ---
20 packets transmitted, 17 packets received, 15% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 153.129/194.303/254.085/25.555 ms

LOL, anyway when I ping google.com i get the normal 460 odd ms and telkom.co.za gives me 21 ms...When I do the telkom speed test with Opera i get 228kilobits and 17kB. With FFX I get 461kilobytes and 56kB...however when I download something it remains the same speed.

IS uncapped Internationl unlivable.

Local ok, but not normal
 
Don't know if this is related but earlier (around 1pm) when I pinged these forums I got something ridiculous like 900ms.
 
Note that with IS 1Meg uncapped, you may be on an 'upgraded' Telkom line, and IS Cisco routers will not synch reliably above 1Meg.

Also, be ready for a possible fee for Telkom to return it to the way it was before they broke it by upgrading...

yes - you read right.... R400 we we're quoted...

Jeez, then I must be surper smart, ic is an einstein then.
 
Hahaha...I mean, you guys have lived in south africa and used the Internet available here much longer than me. I only got ADSL 2 months ago and before that I had lived in south america for four years...With THEIR internet :D

EDIT: Downloading Firefox 2 for Linux now and speeds are back to 40kBps.. :D
