Internet issue

Hi guys.

Having an internet throughput issue this morning. Was working fine till 4 am but issues since I got back up.

No or very very slow internet throughput on everything except for skype and 1 mumble channel. Line synchs fine and stats seems same as yesterday.

Can't load any webpages including telkom.co.za. Have tried crystalweb,mweb and telkom guest.

Have tried two port resets.

This is on a 20mbps vdsl line.

Please help.

You're having frequent port errors over the last few days and your exchange is not reporting any data to us, so there's a Telkom issue in all likelihood at your exchange/MSAN that needs to be reported to them to fix. The exchange isn't even reporting your line speed to us at all.

Where are you? I'm having the same issue on both WA and AH, so it looks like a Telkom problem. I did plenty of downloads on WA between 5 and 8.

Telkom were upgrading infrastructure on their IPC links this weekend around this area but that wouldn't explain your issues, as we don't route traffic over the Pretoria IPC links and your issue is across various service providers. Unless Telkom have embarked on unplanned network infrastructure maintenance in the area as well?
 
I have a similar issue on a 10Mb line in Elarduspark. It started around 11am this morning. Was perfect and now it connects to the ISP account but no data throughput. Even have normal pings to sites but nothing loads on Afrhost business uncapped or the Telkom account.
 
Forgot to mention, I'm in Monument Park, so it does seem to be in our area.

Mine was working fine this morning... Till the power went out.

Now I can ping sites but can't open anything not even steam or battle.net wants to work.

Still having the same issue. Skype and my one mumble channel works everything else is dead, other mumble channel doesn't work. So using mobile currently...
 
Try contacting TelkomZA, Generally very good and knowledgeable, Tell them that you are having an exchange issue. They'll run a whole bunch of troubleshooting with you probably until they come to the conclusion.

Probably your best bet.
 
I'm connected to the Elarduspark exchange and having similar problems too, namely massive packet loss.

Worth noting is that the packet loss is proportional to the packet size - small pings will only report about 5% packet loss, but 1kB pings will give a packet loss of about 90%. Since doing pretty much everything online uses large packets, pretty much everything is unusable.

For those of you running Linux on your routers, the following two commands will make browsing work slightly better than before (websites will actually load, although slowly):

iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN -j TCPMSS --set-mss 250
iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN -j TCPMSS --set-mss 250

However, don't forget to remove those rules again once Telkom fixes their ****up, as they will lower your connection speed under normal conditions.

Have already send their online team a message. Here,twitter and facebook. No response as yet...
 
Seems Telkom finally fixed it. At least my internet connection is back to normal as of 5-10 minutes ago.
