Hi all,

Hoping someone can shed some light, I have a friend who has a 100mbs Fibre with Cool Ideas and Octotel.
Everything works perfectly... work, streaming, etc. but online gaming (Ps4) is impossible and the lag is insane.

Speed tests show full speed and healthy?

Any ideas?

@CoolEscalator

Ask him to check his NAT on PS4 and report.

Is the Ps4 on WiFi or ethernet?

WiFi might show speed being fine but often it comes with packet loss and high jitter in connection meaning the ping spikes around like crazy

Hi there, it's direct cable to router

Agreed! I shall ask her to check that, is there a specific test she can run?
Not sure how you run a speed test on a PS4 that indicates latency. maybe someone else can help. I have a feelings its the ping to be honest not much you can do then

I setup a DMZ to test and same issue so has to be something on the line or ISP side?

Hi, some basics to check as mentioned NAT, and is the device on wireless or cable?

Also, is the PS the only device they game on?

There may be packet loss on the line that wouldn't really affect other services, but it would gaming, for instance.

Which game and which server? Not sure with PS but not all games have local servers.

May be packet loss, I have even taken the console to my place and its perfect.
We both have 100mbs.
Last night I setup a DMS just to see if its the nat and its was the same.

This has been tested on Fortnite which works perfectly on my line

No idea what is going on here :(

I have the same issues when gaming on my PS5. It affects most of my internet usage as I would randomly have no internet even though all the lights on the router are on. It affects gaming the most though as I have trouble connecting to the Playstation network. I usually play Fifa online and lately it's very bad. The opposing team's players will be moving fast, and my guys feel like they are running through mud. There are the games that are fine but currently it's 50/50. I think it probably has something to do with loadshedding because the issues mainly started when loadshedding started staying on Stage 4 or 6. I'm with Cool Ideas on Vuma Reach 100 meg line.
