Hi guys, can u please advised me on a good reliable internet service provider...
I'm receiving very bad service and constant offline issues with cybersmart...(I need to make calls to them every day, to put my line online)
i have the wireless modem...and i am not even using wireless anymore(using via cable)
i do notice they are in price best...on unshaped and capp...
i preferably would prefer unshaped....i am using a 384 line...recently found out i can only go up2 512 on according to the exchange....
thanx in advance...

Hi BeoTeK, corrected your post, sure you won't mind...

1. MWEB (Worst ISP in SA - if you can consider this company as being an ISP, heavily-shaped, worst service in South Africa) http://www.hellopeter.com/search_results.php?search=MWEB
2. WebAfrica (Moderate service, average throughput and declining fast, moderate shaping and increasing, overpriced) http://www.hellopeter.com/search_results.php?search=WebAfrica
3. Gamco (Service non existent , crazy pricing, good throughput - as client base is declining) http://www.hellopeter.com/search_results.php?search=Gamco

Currently, your only options are:

TRL Tech / Telkom / FNB Connect - would like to include Afrihost, although their continual reliance on IS and it's terrible infrastructure puts them out of contention - service is good though.

I would strongly suggest you stay away from ISP's that shape your connection. You pay for connectivity and not to have your connection filtered.

Regards

Michael

TRL Tech IS Cybersmart so be careful.

I've had no issues with MWeb other than when Seacom went down and having a responsive rep on this forum helps stacks when sorting out issues.

- using them currently and have no issues - http://www.speedtest.net/results.php?sh=3053dcf95ef2c7f83ebf0031c50a4ffa&ria=4175603 and impressed with the personal service.

- and how about them? - http://www.hellopeter.com/search_re...e_from=99999&customer=&advanced_search=Submit

(No point in having a responsive rep on the forum like all the others that can't sort your issues )

The most favourite excuse of reps on this forum seems to be, it is Telkom's fault.

Have they not realised, we don't care who is to blame - as we are not paying Telkom and if they can't manage their suppliers why must their custom suffer.

Passing the buck does not equal, taking responsibility.

Yes I know you work for them ;) In any case, your speed test results are as useful as mine for this guy, he has a problem not you.

With regards to HelloPeter, consider Mweb's subscriber base vs any of the other guys. It's like comparing Volkswagen BMW complaints to GWM / Chana etc

Ofcourse you're going to have more complaints because they have more customers.

was just on trltech website they still offer uncapped only with line rental, me thinking that's against new cpa :/

I'd be interested to see how. I mean surely they could just counter the objection by explaining WHY it's necessary for them to manage both isp & line portions.

LOL, well then I must also be working for iBurst, Afrihost, Tradepage, RSA Web, MWEB and WebAfrica - this is an indication of what he could expect from the connectivity, so not so useless when compared to the aforementioned.

- and if you look at the percentage per client base, then there is no justification for using MWEB.

He also has the option to send and email to: [email protected]

...and request a small test account, to confirm that he is indeed happy with the connectivity and TRL Tech seem to oblige.

I normally suggest my client's do this before signing up for any ISP's product and do not sign-up for a shaped offering as they (local ISP's) seem unwilling to disclose contention ratios and other vital information, that is required for making an informed decision.

Michael

Fudzy, I know it seems that I am promoting them unfairly; however I am sick of ISP promises and lies that they do not honour; and as yet TRL Tech has not disappointed, they actually deliver an unshaped product, with good throughput.

I agree with this. Cybersmart is quite good. Fast and very decent international latencies. Locally maybe not so good when you stay north of the country cause off their limited ipc uplinks but none the less a good performance account at a very decent price.

only 1 other ISP has the best premium bandwidth. Webafrica but for that you have to pay tons of money compared to cybersmart bandwidth.

I have been informed by the 4th of March that will change; as additional links have been ordered and should be active at that time.

I have three words for you...

Afrihost. Afrihost. Afrihost.
:cool::cool::cool:

Afrihost has excellent client service, however they are totally reliant on IS' infrastructure that seems rather unstable; http://www.afrihost.com/site/network_status

Therefore, if you are in the Cape Town area, you benefit from very low latencies and a stable backbone provided by Cybersmart (5 - 15 ms) compared to Afrihost (40 - 65 ms).

Hi Fudzy

I've covered this before - we provision all our adsl services on the Cybersmart backbone.
We are in no way related to IS and we do not provision accounts on their network as we've found their bandwidth to be unreliable and over-priced.

So in short, all our adsl services are running on the Cybersmart network.

You cannot judge our services if you haven't used it before - perhaps give it a try ;)
