During the last few days of 2004 IS attempted to roll out their own ADSL network.

Unfortunately things went very bad, and they had to roll back.

Does anybody know if and when they will attempt again to roll out their network?

Will they be allowed to place their own ADSL equipment in the Telkom exchanges?
Will they be able to offer their own ADSL offerings without the Telkom line charge?

Maybe I smell a hint of competition on the ADSL front.

Who can compete with Telkom? Maybe a silent threat and a few harsh words were passed behind their backs

I have called IS and they are confident that their offering will be ready soon. I am waiting for a call from Hillel Shrock and will supply you (hopefully) with more info then.

I really hope they do get this off the ground soon. I'm very interested to learn more about their offering.
 
Hi guys

I have just received some feedback from IS and they are still testing their offering. They might release within the next few weeks, but can not give specific dates. As can be expected it is not always easy to compete with Telkom in a monopolistic environment and we should congratulate IS for trying to penetrate the ADSL market! Apart from that they are a friendly bunch who always returns my calls as promised :D

I will keep you informed about any new information.

Friendly, thats not friendly, thats fear. The are scared of you and the might of MyADSL :P

Good question ic. 'The man' has many levels of meaning. Yes, Sizwe & Steve qualify but Telkom as a collective whole can also be viewed as 'the man'.

If you'd like to take it a bit further though it really starts to get interesting. The government, when they screw up, can also be referred to as 'the man' but it doesn't just stop there. The world systems, instituted by an elite group of people fondly known as The Illuminati, are also 'the man'.

Yet they seem blissfully unaware of the fact that we all actually co-exist in a computer simulation (an idea popularised by The Matrix) and only serve as energy sources and at times light entertainment to machines who conquered us ages ago. This simulation we spend our lives in and it's creators are also known as 'the man'. The term is most often used in this context by those trying to hack their way out of this simulation.

Arrogant as we are, we believe we created these machines that now secretly milk us of our life sources. This belief is foolish. Aliens brought this technology to earth to oppress us and steal our women. And you guessed it, these extraterrestrial beings are also acknowledged as 'the man'. :cool:
