INTERNET stops responding if i open too many pages ...

:confused: ... I'm on ie7 ... and if i try opening too many tabs, at some point i get page cannot be displayed error ... even if i try to close ie7 and then reopen it ... same story ... and also if ie7 is closed i try and open firefox after that i still get an error .... what gives ???? ... only a reset to the pc will help?

Theres your problem
 
too many tabs ... got this habbit of right clicking on images and saying open to new tab ... tried it now on IGN website for screenshots ... seemed fine ... i re-installed the tcp/ip stack ... (thats what the website said)
 
How much RAM do you have (most important)? What OS are you running? How much free space do you have on your swapfile hard drive and is it fragmented? How fast is your processor (least important)?

As of the past few weeks I'm running with 2GB RAM and a 25GB partition for the OS & swap file. Previously I had 512MB RAM and a very full 5GB drive. With the same OS (Win XP SP2) and browser (Firefox 2.0.0.whatever is current) I have so far been unable to open enough tabs to slow the thing down, whereas the old machine would top out at around 30 tabs.
 
With 7 Opera windows, and aprox 20 tabs each, Opera consumes 328,072 K (328MB) RAM, and I have 19 firefox windows open, one window has 73 tabs, and the other on average 30 - 40 tabs, which consumes 743,188 K (743MB)

all is working well :)
This is on a PIV Dual Core 3.0Ghz & 2GB DDII RAM
 
Sounds like a RAM issue, possibly. Try a reboot, fireup IE and go bos with opening pages. See if it still happens but also keep your task manager open at the same time. Should shed some light.
Alternatively, xeo has some (really) good advice too...
