Internet Tethering on iPhone

Hey guys. It looks like you def need iTunes to tether your iPhone. I've tried everything and my iPhone does not tehher on my lappie unless I install iTunes. Any workaround so far? Thank you.

Why do you need a workaround? Just install iTunes.

Can you do internet tethering to a WiFi network, or does it have to be 3G mobile network?? Why all the fuss about Vodacom APN settings if you could do it over wifi?

Hey guys.

After updating to iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3G and MTN carrier settings 9.1 I noticed that my "Internet Tethering" option disappeared from Settings -> General -> Network.
The "Mobile Data Network" option was however still there and I edited my APN from "internet" to "mymtn" (username = blank, password = . This somehow brings the tethering option back.
Not sure if this is a fix but it worked for me.
