Internet Usage Software

Anyone know of any good software which monitors your internet usage i.e. log the amount of time spent on a website and be able to provide graphs at the end of the month showing the websites most visited and how many hours were spent on them etc?

Basically to monitor employee productivity and check that they are not f@rking around too much?

We have two pc's connecting via Wifi - won't work - plus it feels an easier option setup ADSL to work independently with a specific computer serving it.

Good software that can be installed on each PC instead?

Like the ID of proxy/cache server though to cut down on bandwidth for commonly downloaded content.... Maybe at a later stage

I have ethics.
At the very least inform employees once it has been installed. In that way you also have ethics.
In SA you don't need to (as the computer is your property as an employer) but do the right thing

You will get grumblings and moanings but you will also get better productivity than just installing it on the sly and employees won't feel like they are in an entrapment scenario.

You will have to ban (and enforce the ban of) the use of cellphones and personal computers/laptops for anything but making phone calls (and possibly sms's but even here people will be "sms'ing" constantly on facebook) during working hours for this to have any effect though. Of course then you will have the odd employee going to the bathroom (about the only place you may not monitor with SA law) every 10 minutes.

In effect you will end up feeling like a teacher in a creche and this is the part I dislike. Catch 22 as either way you will have employees feeling resentful to you.

GFI WebMonitor is also an effective internet monitoring software It's got great reporting features and it will monitor all internet activity as well as bandwidth usage.

Using monitoring sure really invade privacy but in my opinion it is also depends on how to use the monitoring software. Usually it is the main issues in a workplace. Using monitoring software can also affect the employee’s productivity in a workplace.
