Internet wars intensify

The battle for control over the Internet is intensifying with Google, Microsoft and even the network providers trying to gain a bigger slice of the pie.

Google seems to be shoving MS to the wall on all fronts. All that's left is a Google flavour Linux / other OS.

And if Google does end up having massive control of many layers - it would be frightening. As good as they are now, the prospect of a single company controlling so much of a single (and very strategic and pervasive resource such as the Internet) is a scary thought indeed. Not that Microsoft is any better - or Firefox... because when it comes to the crunch - who could you really trust with your personal data the way things are going (legalistically speaking)...
