Intranet down when no internet connection

Im having the same issue but the router isnt even that old, maybe just over a year, and its a TP Link Archer C2 so its not junk.

I seem to have fixed it somehow.

1) Separated router from switch and focused on internal network only.
2) Recreated static IP for PC and Shield. There was absolutely no loading/waiting time on Kodi after I recreated the aforementioned.
3) I then connected the router to the switch and everything was fine again.

4) I am going to flash the firmware for the router tonight. I have been eyeing an Asus Router for a very long time though, but it's probably an unnecessary buy all in all.

Again, thanks. I will monitor and see if nothing f###'s up during the course of the week.

My brother is having the same problem as well. Seems like there are a number of people that are experiencing this as well.
As mentioned above, if you have a router switch setup, then separate the concerns like I did.
What does your topology look like?

CPE-> WAN on router 1 -> LAN port 1 -> ethernet cable -> LAN port 1 on router 2

DHCP on router 1

Ive tried changing DNS on router 1 from 1.1.1.1/8.8.8.8 to <router IP> to no avail.

I'm not sure as I had 2 issues. My internal network and my internet. I fixed my internal network, and everything is fine, but now I am having lots of drops from my router. I need a new router.

I'm not clued up on how to fix your network.

Should DHCP not be on router 2? What happens if both routers are serving DHCP?
 
fck sake. I have my router switched off now, pc and shield are running on the switch alone. Kodi (on shield) took a long while for it to register that I want to play music (from pc). I'm scanning for new series downloads and it is just stuck on scanning. I reset everything a few times as well. At first, opening Kodi will automatically crash and close. It's playing music at least now.

What is the best router for R2000?

I looked at the TP-Link C7 but it's lacking USB3.

I have collected a number of D-Link 2750u routers that were thrown out by people migrating to fibre.
Anyone is welcome to these if that will help.
I'm in Joburg near Melrose Arch.

Thanks. It's the exact same one that is giving problems.
 
@CamiKaze Can you plug the Shield and your PC directly on the router? Perhaps it is the switch since it is not working again.

Give us some pings, that would help.

Ping some external site (sommer 1.1.1.1) and also, your pc, router and shield.
Let us know the results. If you can ping from different devices, that will help.
