It's 09:00 on Saturday, 1 August 2020, which means one thing - welcome to Progenix and the launch giveaways we're running (details below)!

When the company I worked for closed down in May it left a massive gap in the market, which I plan to fill. Started with R 400 in my pocket, a month and a bit of working up to 18 hours per day (my longest week was 107 hours), it is now time to launch. This same hard work and dedication will be channeled into offering customers the best experience possible. Although we've been operational, we have not had the hard launch until now.

There is still work to be done, such as theming and AJAX filters, but time didn't allow and the site is fully functional as it stands. Our prices and stock levels are pulled hourly (during office hours) from suppliers, so they're always up to date.

Stock is constantly being added to the site (I've been back at it since before sunrise this morning), but if there's something you want that isn't listed, drop us a mail at [email protected] and we will see if it's available and list it right away.

Anything with a price of R 999,999 and marked out of stock has just been added, and the price/availability will automatically adjust within an hour.

Why use Progenix?
  • Customer satisfaction is our priority
  • Geographically close to suppliers. This means we can get most of our stock same day
  • You're not just a number. We care about you and your needs as an individual
  • Low overheads. This means we can give you the best pricing possible. Any savings we make are passed to you as a customer.
  • Only the best components are offered. We try to limit our stock to components that carry a minimum 12 month warranty, which is the industry standard. Any less and we feel the manufacturer doesn't have faith in their own product.
  • We support those in need. A portion of profits is donated to charity. This month we're donating to Reach for a Dream.

This is great to see! I'm not shopping for anything at the moment, but I will show support in future. Your website layout is better than that other place you worked for

All the best with your venture but the “R400 in my pocket” sounds exaggerated? Is it for dramatic effect?

Almost like all those American dream migrants who arrived with nothing but hope and $1 in their pocket.

Good luck with this venture, I really hope it works out for you and that you end up in a better position than you were working for a boss.

He started out as a techie, so quite probable

Not even close to an exaggeration. I was retrenched and my wife wasn't taking a salary. I had enough for CIPC registration and website registration/hosting. I would not have been working up to 18.5 hours/day with my longest week being 107 hours if there were two cents to fall back on :p

Wow, how do you know? It's been an extremely long time since I was a techie (I've been in sales the last almost-decade).

I know the industry and I know how to run an online store (I've had my own in the past, and worked for a large one for four years). I didn't have to outsource anything to get going and took the cheapest/fastest/easiest options wherever possible (such as CIPC registration through FNB) as time was running out.

It's hard to believe, but lockdown is the best thing that happened to me this year :p

Because I know you from Systemshock. That's one and a half decades ago
