Hi, so currently I have a Geewiz 2400VA Inverter Trolley + 2x 100AH Batteries KIT - 1440W.
I'm in the market to upgrade to lithium batteries, from what I've read with my current kit its not the best as mecer inverter is not really built to support lithium batteries and I dont want to mod the thing by adding a better or extra fan, also its modified sine wave and would like pure sine wave.
I want a kit that would be able to carry me through a 4hour loadshedding slot. Now my knowledge is not the best when it comes to all this, but I have a meter that tells me the wattage draw and its about 500w-550w.
From what I could gather I would need 200ah battery to roughly support me in a 4hour LS slot.
I was thinking of getting the following kit, anyone able to give feedback on it.
Can anyone recommend me a kit that would work for my needs. A bonus would also be if the inverter fan sound is fairly the same as the 2400VA mecer inverter if possible.

For fan noise are you using the mecer currently on 10A charge or 20A?

The 200Ah battery recommendation is most likely lead acid based

ie if you use 550w that would mean you would use 2.2kwh before losses if we assume 94% efficiency is concrete, you would need 2.34kwh to make it through 4hrs minimum if you want to not go below 20% soc to extend battery life you need to add 25%

Your current kit is 2.56kwh if run flat if you made it through 4hrs with it with peukert losses i would wager your avg watt is lower than the 500-550

This item would most likely work for 4hrs but would be cycled down to 14%soc if we go by the spec sheet and if the shedding has to stretch to 4.5hrs regularly it would be basically flat

A 3kwh at least is what i would look for unless you can reduce the load a a bit , i am working on the 550w worst case scenario , but if the avg is lower then this 2.71kwh should be fine

You would need an item that can charge at least 30A to be able to charge back in 4hrs to be able to deal with 4-4-4 scenario

If you could deal with it with the lead acid when it was good it would also point to the avg being lower as the lead acid charging tends to slow down at the end

I have no idea what it currently charges on, I think 10A cause the fan noise is very minimal, I just bought the kit as is many moons ago and never asked any questions.

Regarding the 200Ah, that is where my knowledge goes out the door, I think what I meant was kwh and not Ah.

And yes on my current kit the wattage is way lower, Normally just run the TV and wifi of it which is about 55w. It would kill my current lead acid setup within 30min if not quicker if I had to run the 500w on it. I know with the lead acid I should not go below 50% soc.

So current kit is basically to get through 2 - 4 hours of LS with a laptop and screen. The reason for the 500 - 550w is I want to run 2 pcs with 2 screens and they both consume about 450-500w on load, but might consume a little bit more in the future. normally it should only last 1 4hour set if it comes to that, but the 30A charge might be better to look into, especially if LS is going to get worse.

Do you know of any other place I can look at that sells kits, if its better to buy all the parts individually and assemble that wont be a problem.

Geewiz sells kits not sure if the assembly is compulsory
Solar warehouse has some nice prices with good bang for buck

Yea sound wise you wont get anything as quiet as the mecer is at 10A with a higher charge amps

I use a kodak 5kw axpert and when it charges 30A or lower it is not to loud

The recharge rate is where a person should look first

ie if higher stages hit us and we have shorter stints of charging that will be the thing you hope you considered first imo

Here going for a 5kw inverter is king as they can charge up to 80A at 50v that means it can recoup 4kwh in an hour in a pinch

Have used this at times ie have an outage in the area only to find power comes on 1.5hrs before shedding , being able to bump up the charge rate if needed is priceless got the batteries full no problem

For a bit more i would go for 48/51.2v

Almost double the battery capacity
For a better inverter the price gets a bit more ie the luxpower combo is 30k

Keep in mind 30A at 51.2v is double the charge rate vs 30A at 25.6v

And likely would result in a quieter machine ie the heatsinks are built to deal with higher amps so charging at lower % of its max would mean lower fan speed (salt making assumptions here)

if you charge at 20A on a 48v the fans are barely noticeable (on my kodak at least, can't say how others will be but many axperts are based on the same guts so chances are good most would be the same)

30A would mean you could recharge your batteries in 2hrs
After a 4hrs shedding and be ready for another 4hrs

While on a 24v you would require 4hrs charge time and be on max charge rate ie no reserve if things get worse

Thanks for your advice, think my mind is basically made up now.

Double the battery capacity is a bit overkill for what I need but in the future, I know I will thank myself for doing it.

Is it worth it to go for the Luxpower over the Ecco inverter?

I have no idea , many on the forum says it is better quality of the cheaper inverters

I have no personal experience with them

Only have experience with the kodak and synerji which some say isn't an authentic axpert but a clone and it was working fine for me
I found the clone a touch louder than the original axpert(kodak), but not much
